Nikolai Lugansky, Vassilis Christopoulos

Nikolai Lugansky in Rachmaninoff’s Third

150 years since the birth of Sergei Rachmaninoff

Nikolai Luganksy's unparalleled virtuosity and refined expressiveness make him one of the greatest virtuosos of our time and an ideal interpreter of Rachmaninoff's Third Concerto, the Mount Everest of piano concertos. Vassilis Christopoulos, who has been consistently associated in recent years with some of the Athens State Orchestra’s most successful performances, conducts Hindemith's symphonic masterpiece inspired by the Renaissance painter Matthias Grünewald, along with the deeply spiritual Julian Suite by Philippos Tsalahouris, which pays tribute to the late and distinguished Byzantinist, Iouliani Chrysostomidou.
