Dmitri Shostakovich as fireman during WWII

Shostakovich cycle I

The Athens State Orchestra has taken on another ambitious challenge with the prospect of systematically studying and performing Shostakovich’s symphonic oeuvre over the years to come. The first way stage on this long journey, under the baton of Spyros Prosoparis, will be Shostakovich's epic First Violin Concerto, performed by the talented and rapidly rising star, Jonian Ilias Kadesha; the orchestra will also interpret Beethoven's 2nd Symphony.
