Meet the Orchestra!

Educational concert, production of the Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall

The concert is open only for organized school visits

Joyful and melancholic melodies, fast and slow pace, strong and soft sounds, small and big instruments, familiar and exotic rythms, words and notes, humor but also seriousness: this is the magic formula of the creation of Benjamin Britten’s ‘The young person’s guide to the Orchestra’ and Gregory Smith’s ‘Mr. Smith’s composition’, two pieces for the initiation of children and young audience in the world of music. Between them, a journey in the mystic sounds of the Organ, but also to its interior, through a movie projection.

As guides in the immense map of the symphonic music, the members of the Athens State Orchestra under Miltos Logiadis’s baton, Artistic Director of the Megaron, and the distinguished baritone Tasis Christogiannis in the role of the narrator. Urania Gasiou, organist of the Megaron, will interpret Johann Sebastian Bach’s ‘Toccata and Fuga’, while the texts of the event are signed by Sofia Topouzi, head of Educational Programmes of the Megaron – the Athens Concert Hall.
